The 2008 ROAR Region 4 NITRO Off-Road Championships were held at HURRICANE RC Club in Tampa Florida on August 16 – 17, 2008. With a total of 124 entries in 4 classes, Production Monster Truck, Truggy, Buggy and Gas Truck, we had 2 action pact days of racing. It rained most of the week before the race, so Saturday Qualifying started out on wet sticky clay, with no rain all weekend the track grooved up really nice for Sundays Mains. With the rain all week, practice was at a premium. Local Hotshoes include Ryan Eckert, JR Mitch, Jason Ruona and more. Starting with his base setup Billy didn’t change anything all weekend on his car, he swapped pipes around a bit to get the right power band for the track, and it must have paid off! Posting the most consistent laps all weekend and winning the main by over a lap, the SX8 is once again proving its reliability and speed on the track!

TQ Racing Team Driver Johnny LoGiudice was the Top Qualifier in both the 2wd Modified and Truck Modified Classes with his TQ Racing SX10 2w and SX10T.  Johnny won the 2wd Modified class with fellow TQ Racing Team Driver JP Richards finishing in Third.  Both SX10’s out dueled factory drivers from other manufacturers to stand on the top on podium!!

While Johnny was also the TQ in the Modified Truck class some trouble in the Mains knocked him down the order.  Teammate JP Richards stepped up from a lower qualifying position to finish in 2nd place.

Also in the 13.5 buggy class – TQ Racing Team Driver Ray Kindstom finished third in his first major event with the TQ SX10 2w!  The SX10 2w continues to show what a valuable weapon it can be for spec class racers.

TQ Racing continues to develop and add to their electric line up – the SX10 2w and SX10T are becoming regulars at the top of A Mains around the country. Helping racers go faster at an affordable price. The SX10 4w four wheel drive chassis will soon be released and development work is continuing on the SX10 SC Short Course chassis for an early summer release.  TQ Racing’s desire to “Make it Fast” and “Make it Affordable” continues to grow!!

Round 3 – South African National Championship

Round 3 – South African National Championship

TQ Race Products Rock South Africa!

TQ is proud to announce that jADRENALyNE Racing is now distributing TQ cars and accessories in South Africa.

Upon taking their first delivery of TQ equipment, it was straight out to Round 3 of the South African National Championship Series.  Drivers Eben Coetzee and Graham Hewer along with owner Jan Labuschagne received their vehicles just before the event and stayed up until the early hours of the morning before practice, to build their new TQ vehicles.

The hard work paid off immediately.   All three drivers qualified in A Mains during the event.  Eben put in fantastic runs in ST Modified with his SX10T.   He had some of the fastest laps of the event and qualified 2nd overall.  The youngster backed that up by running on a TQ pace in every round of 4wd modified with is SX10 4w only to have speed control problems knock him out just before the finish of each run. His times were still good enough to qualify for the B Main!  Graham was also a quick study:  He qualified 7th in the A Main of 2wd Modified and in 4wd Modified.  Jan qualified 8th in the Stock ST class with his new SX10T.

Eben won one of the three A Mains to finish 2nd overall in the ST Modified class.  In 4wd Modified (with his ESC problems solved) he walked the win in the B Main, with times faster than ANY  of the 4wd A Main runs!!  Graham continued his steady climb with both new cars, finishing 7th in 2wd Modified and 8th in 4wd Modified.  Jan also completed the event, finishing 9th in the Stock ST class.

It was a tremendous introduction to the vibrant South African race scene for TQ Race Products.  Special thanks to Eben, his father/mechanic Buks, Graham and Jan for getting the cars ready so quickly.  The better news: all three drivers are in the Top 10 in points for the year long championship! Watch out for the next round!

2010 J Concepts NE Championship

2010 J Concepts NE Championship

By TQ Racing – Sep 9Posted in: Race Report

RC Excitement in Fitchburg, MA hosted the latest event in J Concepts off road racing event series. The J Concepts NE Championships features drivers from not only the northeast but all around the country. TQ Factory team drivers took on drivers from four other chassis manufactures including former World Champion Brian Kinwald, Team Associated’s Steve Hartson and J Concepts Owner Jason Ruona.

The showcase event was 2wd Modified class with five different chassis’ in the A Main. TQ had the most cars with three SX10 2w’s qualifying 3rd – James Raupp (who won the third round of qualifying), 5th- Johnny LoGiudice and Kenny Ferris was 7th. As the main started it was an incredible display of driving, many battles including the one for the lead with drivers inches apart, lap after lap. The unique J Concepts format of 8 minute A Mains, started to take its toll as the race when on. Johnny stayed with the leaders (Hartson, Kinwald and Losi’s James Schlick) the entire event, never falling further back than fourth and moving up to third as others had accidents. On the next to last corner of the last lap Kinwald and Hartson tangled. Johnny drove through the incident and down the main straight to take the surprise victory. Everyone was stunned and some, who were in the race, did not know who won until several minutes later. The consistency of his SX102w kept Johnny in the race to make the pass when it was needed most. His chassis was equipped with stock shocks, graphite shock towers and rear brace, as well as aluminum hubs and arm mounts. James and Kenny fought long and hard, sometimes with each other, during the main to come home in 5th and 8th place. th and 6th in the 4wd Modified class A Main and unfortunately while Team Associated Steve Hartson ran away with the win, Kenny was locked in a three car battle for second place that moved back and forth as the race went on. Kenny was in 3rd much of the run, but fell back to 4th the last two minutes of the race. He finished 3 seconds behind second place and second behind third to just miss the podium. Both guys ran the box stock SX10 4w, with no modifications from the factory. Johnny and Kenny qualified 4

In Truck Modified, new team driver Justin Lopes was on fire in early qualifying, winning one round and placing second in another. Ultimately he would qualify second overall with Pete Davagian qualifying 8th and James Raupp qualifying 9th. The start of the main was an ugly one, as an immediate accident off the start left the SX10 T’s towards the back of the field. After 3 minutes the running order remained stagnant and positions were hard to come by. Justin finished 7th, Pete 8th and James 10th.

In Truck Super Stock, Nick Malato qualified 6th and had a great start to be 2nd after the first lap, but a string of unfortunately laps moved him back to 5th for a final result although he had the third fastest lap of the race. Once again, all the SX10 T’s were being run in stock form with some drivers using aluminum options like hubs and arm mounts on the rear.

The only SX10 SC at the race was run in Short Course Pro Modified by Mike “Zippy” Ziolkowski. Zippy qualified a very strong 5th behind factory Associated and X Factory drivers. But like the truck A Main, got caught in a big first lap pile up and was stuck way back in the field. At one point race winner Jason Ruona had lapped Zippy, but he spent several laps just following Jason around the track before moving over to allow Brian Kinwald a chance to battle Ruona for the race victory. Zippy was running a stock SX10 SC Pro Roller kit with some option parts being tested for our short course program.

A special thanks to Jason, Allison and J Concepts for sponsoring a great event. Todd and the RCE staff for a great show. Also to an extended thanks to Steve Hartson and Brian Kinwald for putting on a great show for all in attendance and for showing incredible sportsmanship in the end.

2009 J Concepts Clash

2009 J Concepts Clash

By TQ Racing – Jan 1Posted in: Race Report

TQ Shocks the 2009 J Concepts Clash.

While testing had been on going for several months, the general public had only known of the TQ SX10 2w for about a month and a half when the 2009 J Concepts Clash started.

The Clash was a coming out party for the 2w.  In the 2wd Modified Class the car qualified 4th and actually won the second of three A Main events.  Finishing an incredible 3rd overall, behind multi-time national and world championship drivers.

It continued in the 2wd Super Stock Class, by keeping in close contact with the leader the whole 8 minutes race.  When the leaders tangled towards the end – it was the 2w that was going in the right direction to claim it’s 1st major event victory!!
